Situated in the Northwest of Sardinia, this hilltop village is famous for its panoramic views, castle and historical center.The village has a population of around 3000 people and this doubles in the Summer to 6000, there are around 15-20 international people who either live there or have holiday homes there, so if you go there every year you are bound to make friends! The locals are lovely and extremely friendly, I myself have had gift of cakes given to me before I left by people I barely know, they are very friendly, In Red's bar there is interent to use for free, just ask at the bar.
The house is only 45 minutes away from the airport (Alghero), 1 hour from Olbia, if your getting the boat from Italy you can go to either Olbia or Porta Torres, and is about 45 minutes from either.
The beaches around a 25 minutes drive to the stunning Mediterranean coastline,and beaches to die for, and this is the ideal base for exploring rural Sardinia with its beautiful lakes, mountains and unspoiled countryside. it's only 25 minutes away from the coastal resorts of Castelsardo with its Castle and Marina and Valedoria with its long white sandy beaches. Badesi and Isola Rossa with its lovely crescent beaches and waterside restaurants are about 35 minutes away, Costa Parisido with its extremely unique setting (walking up and over the hill!) is just stunning and is around 45 minutes away and also the famous Stintino beaches, which is a must to see, There are many many beaches to explore and we tend to visit a different beach every day, it is well worth the drive and the North of Sardinia tends to be the most sought after location. for those who want to explore, you can get a boat with your car to the island of Magdelena which is a beautiful place, quaint town and beautiful water..
The house is well situated in the historical center, and only a few steps away from all the local amenities, traditional patisserie, a few meters away, supermarket, butchers, clothes shop, several bars, Reds bar you can use the internet there for free! there's a couple of local pizza places, one is a takeaway which is extremely close to Red's bar, they will deliver to the bar if you want with a charge of 1.00 euro, on their motorbikes even thou its about 50 years away !! Pizza are the best thou and very cheap! there's a restaurant which is about a 2 minutes drive or a 10 minute walk ! everything is very close and very relaxed.
